What is GPS metadata?
GPS metadata can store geographic coordinates and related location information inside an image’s EXIF data.
File Meta Cleaner checks the bounded EXIF structure for a valid GPS information directory and reports GPS metadata without displaying its raw values. Cleaning removes the complete EXIF container, so other supported EXIF information in that container is removed at the same time.
Processing and post-clean verification take place locally in your browser. The image remains in its original format, and JPG/JPEG pixel data is not re-encoded.

What GPS metadata can File Meta Cleaner detect and remove?
The tool detects valid GPS fields stored in the standard EXIF GPS information. When found, GPS metadata is listed separately and removed with the complete EXIF container. Raw coordinates are never displayed.
Which image formats support GPS cleaning?
This page accepts JPG, JPEG, and PNG files. GPS detection applies when the location information is stored in a supported EXIF structure.
Does the cleaner remove only the GPS coordinates?
No. To remove metadata reliably without altering image pixels, the tool removes the complete EXIF container along with any other supported image metadata detected in the file.
Why was no GPS metadata detected?
GPS metadata may not be present, may already have been removed, or may be stored in an unsupported or malformed structure. The cleaner reports GPS metadata only when it can validate the supported EXIF structure.
Are my location and image sent to a server?
No. The file and its detected metadata are processed locally in your browser. File Meta Cleaner shows category labels, not raw GPS values.
